And all I can say is, thank goodness for that! It really has been the worst year, ever. Celebrity deaths (Glenn Frey, Prince and George Michael, I will always mourn you), Cheeto Hitler being elected, my ex-boyfriend/kids' dad dying in June along with the parting gift he left us which lead to an eviction notice for Christmas. And now Princess Leia. . . I'm just so over this year.
I would say 2017 can't be any worse, but I don't want the universe, or fate, or whatever the fuck to take that as a challenge.
I honestly don't see how next year could get worse, but if you think you can top 2016, I say you can give it a shot. You didn't kill me yet.

But before I turn Bronwyn loose on you all, I want to address something that happened in a different Facebook group last week. Someone asked which fic a certain event happened in and I replied with the name of the fic, as did a few other people. Later on in the thread, I commented that I wanted to read the fic again even though I didn't think it was that great the first time I read it.
A well-known fan fiction author then took to her personal page and implied on her status update that I was being disrespectful about the Lolashoes trilogy, even though I said exactly what I said in the paragraph above. No, I expressed an opinion which differed from yours, but I was in no way disrespectful. Had I wanted to disrespect the fic in question, I would have said it was the worst thing I ever read, and even if I had a printed out copy I wouldn't wipe my ass with it as it would be an insult to shit and that the author's kids were ugly.
I then went on to ask said well-known author to show me where I was being disrespectful when I had in fact seen her be disrespectful on her page a number of times over the years. Disrespectful to other authors, and disrespectful to reviewers, especially guest reviewers. I was informed that guest reviewers were fair game. I take that to mean even the nice, respectful guest reviews because I've seen her run those through the shredder of her gigantic ego, as well.
Anyway, I decided to read the fic (the Lolashoes trilogy) in question again, to see if I liked it any better the second time around. I like it a little bit more than I did the first time, and I understand why other people like it, but I stand by my original assessment that there is way too much sex in the series.
In Let Your Light Shine, the first story in the Lolashoes trilogy, Edward and Bella are on their honeymoon and they have sex for the first time. And then they have sex for the second time, and then they have sex for the 3,487th time. They have sex a lot.
I mean, the entire first story is literally almost nothing but Edward and Bella having sex. Actually. all three stories have an overabundance of the lemony variety, IMHO, but the first story is the worst with it.
The trilogy, including outtakes, is 1370 pages. It has been pulled, but if they took out 7/8ths of the lemons there would probably still be too many, and if they took out 7/8ths of the lemons, it would probably reduce the size of the trilogy to around a hundred pages, that's how light on plot it is.
Which is sad, because what elements of plot there are in the story are so good I wanted to see those elements expanded, but they weren't and in some cases just abruptly abandoned and ignored once they were brought up.

So there is my review of the Lolashoes trilogy. I won't apologize for having an opinion, and if anybody really thinks I'm being disrespectful here, I invite you to go check out a certain group when the author who thinks I'm disrespectful gets any kind of a guest review. No matter what kind of guest review she gets, it goes on blast either on her personal page or in her group, where her fans will jump to eviscerate whoever was unfortunate enough to not sign in when they review for her.

The things Alice does to everyone’s life is unbelievable and everyone believes Alice when she cry’s wolf over and over again. Alice gets pregnant because Bella is pregnant with Edward’s baby but who is Alice’s baby’s father.
All through the story, Alice plays everyone for a fool and Edward believes everything Alice says about Bella even though he doesn’t want to.
This story is filled with drama and tragedy. There is talk of rape and how Bella survives it. It is clear the Authors have done some research on survivors of rape and abuse crimes because their descriptions and emotions that they describe are accurate.
If you can handle angst, drama, tragedy and rape triggers I suggest you go and read this story you won’t be disappointed. The Authors have written this story in a way that you just want to stay up all night and keep reading you want to know what happens next….

I have read many MafiaWards and some BDSM MafiaWards and this Edward is one of my favorites.
He is tough and committed to leading his family once he marries a good Italian girl but like the Dons in his family he is also a Dom.
In the first book, Bound to the Family. It starts with Carlisle traveling down memory lane when he meets the love of his life, Esme, and their life together raising Edward, explaining to Edward what he must do to take over the family business to be head of the Cullen Mafia family.
Bella is roommates with Alice who is Jasper’s submissive which Bella does not know. Bella has been exploring BDSM for many years on her own and has yet to find her first Dom. Due to her being out of work after finishing College, Jasper offers Bella a job at one of his BDSM clubs once he realizes Bella is a natural born submissive and perfect for Edward who is taken back when he first sees her and demands that Jasper take her off the floor because he has found his new submissive.
From there Charlise and Edward quickly learn that Bella is the oldest grandchild to Michael Volturi and the need for Edward and Bella to marry quickly is of the utmost importance. Bound and Dangerous
The second book starts with Edward and Bella’s wedding and the drama and death that comes with such a union. This story is set up in a way that allows for it to action packed, drama and well-placed, descriptive sexy sex scenes that just make you want to find a partner or have a cold shower.
With the families united, Aro and James (who is Aro’s oldest son) try everything to kill Edward, Bella, Michael and Carlisle to destroy the new family unity. But both Bella and Edward are smarter, creating the coven of both family’s best operatives in different fields. Bella also decided with Carlisle
and Michael’s support that she wants to be trained and MY GOD does she turn into a bad ass, out of the playroom Bella is as badass as Edward and will not take any crap from anyone, she expects loyalty from everyone under her and will kill if the need arises.
What I also love about this series especially this book you see the appearance of a new major character, Bella’s half-brother Alex Volturi who it's clear has a disability but is high functioning Aspergers or also known as Autism. With this character, the author has done her research in developing someone who is believable in being high functioning Aspergers. Alex, throughout the rest of the series becomes a
major player in the Coven and especially in Bella’s life as she gets to know her kind and loving brother.
In this book, you also see the Irish appear and need help from the Coven. The Coven teams, Bella and Edward travel to Boston to solve the mystery that surrounds the Irish mafia family and tragedy strikes when Aro gets involved.
You see Jacob Black in this book for a short time but, as usual, is off his rocker and a dick towards Bella thinking she is in love with him. He becomes obsessed with Bella so action has to be taken and he is removed. Jacob fans you won’t like this.

Bound and United is the third book in the bound series.
If you like Mafia and BDSM then take the time to read this series.
In this book, Edward and Bella are well established as the Don and Donna of the Cullen/Volturi family. Not only are Edward and Bella the Don and Donna of the family but Edward is Bella’s Dom and Bella is Edward's ever-so-sweet, obedient submissive.
Bella is a natural born submissive but also a natural born leader of the family and the love of Edward’s life. Edward gets a hard on when Bella goes into killer mode, every time.
These stories are not just about sex, there are well-written plot lines in each book but follow the story line set up at the beginning of book one.
Book three sees Bella pregnant with their first child and Edward is ever-so-protective but Bella will not be told she can’t partake in the fun. It deals with the effects the pregnancy has on the couple as they both recover from injuries sustained when Bella was kidnapped at the first Coven meeting in Las Vegas.
I want to say more but you really need to read all three books to understand what I am saying, it is one of those series that is worth reading and the BDSM part of the stories does not overshadow the storyline.

Though Book three is still a WIP it is worth reading all three books you will find them to be well-written and researched not just in mafia life but also BDSM. The author has taken her time to provide as much accuracy as she can in creating the Bound universe. This series is one of only a few
that I would read a sequel let alone an entire series, each book keeps you captivated and wanting more. The sex scenes are just hot, they do not waffle on and drag out like some stories do but they are detailed enough that you can picture clearly what is happening and I don’t know about you but I get a physical reaction from reading these sex scenes that the author has created.

Since I never plan this shit, here I come to spew forth more word-vomit for your reading pleasure.
Anyway, I figure since I don't want to do Christmas I should at least give you some kind of cohesive theme...
So I'm just gonna throw some shit up there and see if it sticks, okay?
I just counted the WIPs I'm currently following and the number is THIRTY! I'm following 30 different WIPs and I know I've only recced a couple of them in the weeks since I began writing this blog.
This week my favorite WIPs, the ones I drop everything and run to read (except last week when I was reading the Storm series, yo) are Eight Days by windchymes, This is who I am by madkins, and Island Nights by Compass54.
Each of them is fairly far into the story arc. In fact, Island Nights is almost complete. So why don't I start with my review of that?
Summary: I would always remember him as a dangerously beautiful twenty-two-year-old, a sensual and affectionate lover who could put a gun to a man's head and pull the trigger. Why I couldn't forget him was no mystery. I was still in love with him.
Island Nights started out as a one-shot contest entry for the Bad Boys of Twilight contest and thank goodness the author decided to expand it. First of all, I can't even begin to tell you how much I've loved this story. From the get go. Word one had me hooked.
And it's not Edward who has me so hooked in this story. He (and everybody else) is just a supporting character. The star of this story is Bella. The story is told completely in her POV, with the exception of a one shot Compass did for a charity compilation (sorry, I don't remember which one right now).
All I can tell you is that the Bella of Island Nights is hands down the best-written Bella I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Not one chapter goes by without the character developing in some way.
The story starts with and innocent-seeming Bella and her best friend Rosalie working at an island resort, saving to travel Europe together. Bella soon finds herself infatuated and intrigued with the bronze-haired bartender who lives a life that appears to be filled with hedonism and debauchery. He feels the same way toward her but he wants to protect her from his life and pushes her away in every way he can, up to and including hurting her feelings when he makes her out to be crazy to other people right in front of her.
Eventually the pull they feel toward each other is too much and they go on a date. It's while they're on this date that the repercussions from the choices he's made in his life come into play and they're almost killed. The people who are after Edward set the police on his illegal activities and leaves the island to escape while Bella tries to go on with her life but can't get him out of her head.
She stays on the island with Rose for a while after Edward leaves and once they save enough money for their trip through Europe they leave. In every adventure they have together, Bella still has Edward and her love for him at the back of her mind.
Edward, meanwhile, has decided he doesn't want to be a criminal any longer and he wants to have a life with Bella so he finds an occupation which will pay him the most for the least investment of time and money. He finds deep saturation diving, living in a pressurized facility deep in the ocean for 28 days at a time, to be very lucrative, however, it's still very physically demanding and risky for him.
But he needs the money to refurbish his grandfather's pub, so he can stop with the deep-diving and give Bella a crime-free life in London. Bella needs to get a work visa so she can continue to live in London.
No matter the situation, Bella learns something from each and every experience she has. You can actually see her grow as a person, in both very obvious and very subtle ways.
Island Nights is easily one of the best fics I've ever read and I encourage Compass54 to rework it and try to get it published because not only are the character development and story stellar, but the mentions of the places that Bella travels to, the descriptions Compass gives, are so good that during every chapter I find myself rushing to Google images to look at something she talks about in the chapter I happen to be reading at that moment.

Okay, y'all. To be honest, when I first started reading Eight Days by windchymes, I thought it would be a typical Edward-left-in-New-Moon-and-didn't-come-back fic. You know the type, he left but a few years later, the Cullens stumble on a broken Bella, and Edward resolves to do everything and anything he has to in order to get her to forgive him for throwing their love away.
Not this story. Edward left in New Moon and didn't come back, alright. I'm not going to tell you what the twists are, but when he and Bella meet up again eight years later, he's no longer a vampire. And Bella's changed too. She's no longer the shy 18-year-old content to just let life and other people's decisions happen to her.
She is genuinely angry with Edward for not thinking their love was worth fighting for. And I don't blame her for that anger, either. But, Edward has some revelations for Bella as to how her behavior in the past regarding him has repercussions for him in the present day, as well.
But, just the fact that Edward is no longer a vampire should be enough to make you want to read this story. RUN! Read it!

This is who I am by madkins is a fic that I've heard of others saying they won't read it because of the subject matter. I'm here to tell you that decision is wrong.
This is who I am is a compelling story. When Benjamin Swan was born, he had both male and female genitalia. The doctors advised his parents, Charlie and Renee to choose to have the baby be a girl, as she had more female chromosomes than male, but Charlie wanted a son and Renee wouldn't be able to have any more kids so Benjamin came into the world. He never knew what happened at his birth and the subsequent physical changes that were made to his body.
So, although Benjamin had boy parts and was raised as a boy, genetically (because of the fact that he had more female than male chromosomes) he was actually a girl. When Benjamin was 22 his grandma died and left him some money so he had gender reassignment surgery. When he was going through the process of starting the transition, he obtained his medical records where he was informed that it would actually have been better for him to have been raised as a girl.
After she had her surgery, Bella met Edward and they fell in love. Until Alice found out her secret and told him. Edward told her not to contact him again. His mother has blackballed her with all of the design clients they had in common and she can't find a job, so she decided to tell her story to a news magazine television show. They paid her enough money for her to leave the area so she moved to the other side of the country.
Five years later, she has made friends, adopted a little girl and has a great (if lonely) life for herself. And then she runs into Edward's sister-in-law at the zoo and everything comes crashing down around her again.
I will admit, when I first started the story (because of the prolog), I thought it was going to be something where "Bella" had a dick and wanted Edward to be on board with it, so I wasn't going to keep going. But then I kept reading and discovered a mature, well-told, wonderful story about a woman who is doing everything in her power to have love in her life and struggling with not being hurt again.
You should really jump to read this story. It's fantastic and I've never read anything like it before. This is another story where I would encourage the author to rework it for possible publication.

I've been reading the Storm series since before I posted last week's blog and I'm still reading. Morning, noon and night. That shit's a monster, yo!
I haven't read any updates to any of the stories I follow, either. Not since before last Monday. I've got two chapter of Bellaria (if you're not reading it, run to do so, immediately) by pattyrose. Two chapters of Final Destination by Edward's Eternal, and it's complete now, so any of you wonderful people who wait until a story's finished before reading, get to it! Break My Silence updated and I usually drop everything to read that, but no, I'm still reading Storm. Hopefully, in the next day or so I will be finished with it. And, this will be my last time reading it for a long time. It just takes so long, and when I get sucked into it, I can't leave it to do any other reading.
It's hard. So hard.
So, unfortunately, while I desperately wanted to give you some themed bunch of recommendations. I have nothing.
I totally suck. I haven't read any updates since December 4th. It's gonna take me like, a day, to catch up. I'm following twenty WIPs and two of those have updated at least twice since I started Storm again.

Hi. I've decided that I will no longer try to plan what my next blog will be about right after posting. It never ends up being what I decide on at the time I plan it.
Case in point, last week after posting I decided that I was going to devote this week's blog to WWII fics because tomorrow is the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which brought the United States into the conflict. Good plan, right?
And then the Mafiaward group on Facebook decided to have a group read-a-long of the Storm series. And posting snippets of the first story. And then I made the mistake of reading those snippets. And then I had to start reading Quiet Storm because those snippets were just so gooooood and made me want to read the series again so that whole plan I had about making my blog post tonight about WWII just disappeared on me. And then there's a good possibility this post will be late because I can't stop reading any of the Storm series.
Betcha can't guess which genre tonight's blog post is about, huh?

Oh, how I love a good Mobward story. There's just nothing better when it's done well. I have two series for you, this week.
I popped my Mobward cherry with There Will Be Blood. And what a great story to have been my first.
Summary: Edward Cullen, 25, the son of a Chicago mob boss. He is second-in-command, cold and dangerous. Bella Swan,18,small town girl who has just enrolled as a freshman at Northwestern. A story about how love can survive in the cruelest of worlds.
TWBB has a sequel called There Will Be Freedom.
Summary: Two years have passed. Bella and Edward are safe on their island but will the dark underworld of crime pull them back in?
As I said above, There Will Be Blood was my first Mobward story.
In TWBB and TWBF we get to meet Edward Cullen, the original OCD-Gangsta. He's 25 (2nd in command to his father in an organized crime family) and a he-whore extraordinaire. Enter Bella Swan, 18-year-old Northwestern University freshman with a terminal case of klutziness. She meets Edward (briefly) for the first time when she wakes up on his desk after fainting in his brother's dance club. She and Alice leave the club, but Bella left her purse under his desk.
He wants her and can't get her out of his mind. He's reduced picking up women to a routine so practiced and slick it takes him less than 5 minutes to score and she picks up on that when they meet so he can give her his purse back. She refuses him and he is baffled by this. He honestly can't believe that he failed to get her to have sex with him. She does her best to resist him, but eventually he convinces her to go out with him and they end up together.
The mafia parts of the story are good. The Cullens (mainly Edward) face several antagonists: the police (featuring an obsessive Jacob Black), the Volturi crime family (featuring an obsessive Aro Volturi and his skanky niece Vienna), along with other criminal organizations.
A heart-breaking conclusion ushers in a thrilling sequel in the form of TWBF. The story of the OCD-Gangsta and his klutzy damsel continues in this with Carlisle turning over the organization to Edward and Esme wanting a divorce because of a secret that Carlisle kept from her for 2 years.
Aro Volturi keeps trying to kill Edward, skanky niece Vienna keeps trying to get Edward to show her a good time and all he ever wants to do is be with his wife. How dare he?
The sex is hot, the violence is graphic and the story is fantastic.

There are several stories (or series of stories) in the fanfic universe that are so popular and widely-read that unless you are the newest of newbies you will recognize them with only one-word names. There are the Gravity and Angel series by Drotuno, and probably a few more by other authors, but there is only one one-word-named Mobward series: The Storm series.The Storm series is one of those experiences you have to have at least once in your life. It's one of those fan fiction stories that you're just positive would be a best-seller if the author would just re-work it and publish it. The series spans close to 30 years.
Bella must have a magic pussy because Edward is in love with her (naturally) but so are Carlisle and Aro. And y'all know that Edward has a giant, always-hard, regenerates-in-seconds wonder-cock! They're a match made in heaven! Holla!!!
